A Boston couple has received a professionally installed stairlift as part of a special donation scheme marking the 25th anniversary of Obam Stairlifts, the independent Lincolnshire-based mobility solutions provider.
Mr and Mrs Huskisson, aged 90 and 86 respectively, were nominated by their granddaughter Kerry for the donation after a challenging year that saw Mrs Huskisson undergo hip replacement surgery and recover from a fall in the garden. The Platinum Stairlifts Ergo Straight stairlift was installed by our fully trained engineers on Tuesday 11 November 2025.
Kerry Huskisson said:
“My Grandma and Grandad are 86 and 90. This year, Grandma has been in and out of the hospital. She had hip replacement surgery and also had a fall in the garden. She has slept in a bed downstairs, and Grandad slept in the armchair to look after her.
“I heard about Obam through a word-of-mouth recommendation. My grandparents hadn’t considered getting a stairlift before; they are such independent people and don’t want to rely on others. We didn’t tell Grandma and Grandad we’d nominated them for the stairlift donation, but when they found out the stairlift was to be installed they were really happy.
“Before, when Grandma used the stairs, she’d climb very slowly and Grandad would support her. The thought of them using the stairs made us worry. With the stairlift, she can get her clothes and put the washing on her lap and it’s little things like that which can make a difference to her confidence and independence around the home. The stairlift is brilliant – we’re so pleased with it.”
The donation forms part of our Corporate Social Responsibility initiative to celebrate a quarter-century of helping people maintain their independence at home. As a Platinum Stairlifts Approved Platinum Partner, we worked closely with the manufacturer to make the installation possible.
