From First Call to Fitted Stairlift
Here’s exactly what to expect at every stage of the process.
Call us on 01427 787 532 or fill in a contact form. There’s no waiting list for a survey. We aim to get a surveyor to your home quickly.
A trained surveyor visits your home. They measure your staircase, assess your needs and explain the options. The visit usually takes 30 to 60 minutes.
You receive a clear, written quote. It covers the stairlift, installation, the manufacturer’s warranty and a full cost breakdown. No hidden extras. If you’re eligible for VAT relief or grant funding, we’ll explain how that works too.
Straight stairlifts can usually go in within a few hours. Curved stairlifts need a custom rail, so allow around four to five weeks for manufacturing, then a half day for fitting. Your engineer won’t leave until you’re confident using the stairlift.
Every new stairlift comes with a minimum 12-month manufacturer’s warranty. We also offer stairlift maintenance contracts and a genuine 24/7 engineer call-out service. Not a call centre. A real engineer. Our stairlift aftercare guide covers the day-to-day essentials.
What Happens During a Stairlift Home Assessment?
A stairlift assessment is a visit to your home. It typically takes between 30 and 60 minutes. The goal is simple: to find out what you need and what will work in your property.
Your surveyor measures your staircase, checks for obstacles like doors or radiators, and ensures there is a suitable power supply. They also assess how you move, so the recommendation is safe and practical.
Can’t bend your knees or hips easily? A standing stairlift or perch seat might suit you better than a standard seated model.
Who Carries Out Your Assessment?
We only employ salaried surveyor advisors. Not salespeople. Not commission-based representatives. Our surveyors find the best solution for you. They’re not trying to push you towards the most expensive option.
Every surveyor has hands-on experience with the full range of stairlift types we supply. They know the products inside out because they work with them every day. And because we’re based in Sturton by Stow, they know the local area too. We cover Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and parts of South Yorkshire, East Yorkshire, Humberside and Derbyshire.
What Gets Measured and Checked?
Every home is different. That’s why we assess each case individually.
Straight, curved, with or without a half landing. The shape determines which stairlift type will work and whether we need to custom-manufacture the rail.
Your surveyor measures the staircase width at its narrowest point. They also check how much space remains when the stairlift is folded away, so other people in your household can still use the stairs safely.
Your surveyor notes radiators, doors, overhanging bulkheads and low ceilings. These affect where the rail starts and finishes, and whether we need to make any minor adjustments.
We need a nearby 13-amp socket. If one isn't in the right position, the surveyor will advise on that.
Your height, weight, knee flex, arm strength and overall mobility all influence which model we recommend. Whether you live alone or share the staircase with other people matters too.
The surveyor checks that you can mount and dismount safely. Swivel seats, powered footrests and specific parking positions all come into the recommendation to reduce any risk.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. It’s the only way we can give you an accurate quote. Every staircase is different. Your surveyor needs to see yours in person to measure the dimensions, check for obstructions and understand your individual needs. Any company quoting over the phone without seeing your stairs isn’t giving you reliable information.
Most take between 30 and 60 minutes. Your surveyor needs enough time to measure everything, talk through your requirements and explain the options available to you. There’s no rush. Ask as many questions as you like.
