Supporting the Community: Shed Club

Table of Contents

At Obam, we understand the importance of taking Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) seriously. CSR is when companies take accountability for their effect on the community and the planet. In addition to making money, companies that employ CSR also have concern for:

  • Living sustainably
  • Fair treatment of employees
  • Community support
  • To be ethical

Essentially, CSR stands for businesses doing responsible things while they are doing business. We do our bit for the community by sponsoring a local club.

Sturton and District Shed club was set up to help people socialise and avoid feeling isolated. It’s based at Bransby and has a workshop with office space and tea/coffee-making facilities.

They are a friendly group that gets together to socialise on a regular basis. They carry out all sorts of projects and share experience in areas such as woodworking, wood turning, IT, photography and anything else that takes their members’ fancy. In principle, there are no fixed ideas; the club does whatever the members wish to do and is dependent on what skills they all share.

They welcome interest from new members over the age of 18, regardless of gender, ethnicity or experience level. The Shed Club meets every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10am – 4pm.

By creating a ‘shed for everyone,’ this club has helped combat loneliness in the community. At Obam, we understand the importance of combating the feeling of being alone, and that’s why we support this club. The Shed Club also raises much-needed funds for charities such as St Barnabas, which is admirable and hugely appreciated by all the charities they have supported.

Recently, we purchased them a uniform to help them feel more united and further solidify that they’re part of something that truly matters. This gives the attendees a sense of belonging, allows them to promote the club and strengthens team spirit.

Nominate Someone For A Free Stairlift

Obam Stairlifts celebrates its 25th birthday in August 2025 by giving back to the community through a special Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The family business is donating two new straight stairlifts to nominated causes in Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire, marking a quarter-century of helping people stay in the homes they love.

Anyone can nominate someone they know who would benefit from a stairlift donation. You might know an elderly neighbour struggling with stairs, a family member recovering from surgery, or someone with mobility challenges who can’t afford this life-changing equipment. The nomination process is simple and open to everyone.

To nominate and for more information, go to obam.co.uk/birthday
